The Hong Kong Institute of Education Library is seeking a well experienced professional archivist to serve as a part-time Archivist. Reporting to the Librarian, the appointee will advise the Library and the Hong Kong Museum of Education and lead a project in setting up and operating a new Institute Archive, developing an official Institute Archive Policy, setting up guidelines, workflows and procedure manuals for acquisitions, preservation, cataloguing, recording, digitization and filing of archival items. He/she will also identify and collect potential archival items from internal and external sources, and provide professional training to Library and Museum staff on all aspects of archive management. The appointment will be for a period of up to 18 months and the appointee will be required to work for at least 80 hours per month.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree plus a postgraduate-level training (Doctoral or Master’s degree, Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent) in archive management and at least 6 years’ hands on experience in planning and managing institutional archives. Excellent analytical, problem solving, organization and leadership skills, and high proficiency in English and Chinese are required.
